About Our Services

          Wilmington Orthotics & Prosthetics, Inc. has been serving Wilmington since 1992 as a provider of quality orthotics and prosthetics. Locally owned and operated, our facility and staff are accredited by the American Board for Certification and the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association. With over thirty years experience, our highly trained practitioners are able to measure, design, and fabricate a wide variety of custom orthotics and prosthetics for children and adults. All fabrication is performed on site at our office located at 3909 Oleander Drive (next to Red Wing Shoes). Our expertise with a wide variety of diagnoses allow us to fit patients with the lightest and most comfortable device while still promoting the most active and functional independence possible.

         Wilmington Orthotics & Prosthetics, Inc. is an approved provider for the New Hanover Health Network. During the week, initial patient referrals are completed within

twenty-four hours. Practitioners are also on call for weekend and after hour consults. We stock, as well as custom fabricate, a wide variety of upper and lower extremity braces and immobilizers, including AFO's, pressure relieving AFO's, TLSO's, LSO's, cervical collars, custom molded foot orthotics, diabetic foot wear, and compression garments. We also specialize in upper and lower extremity prosthetics utilizing the most technologically advanced components available.

        We now also have an ABC certified pedorthist on staff. A pedorthist has received specialized training to address pain or disabling conditions of the foot and ankle. Working with the prescribing physician, our pedorthist, Art, can fit, adjust, fabricate or modify therapeutic shoes, partial foot prostheses and custom foot orthotics.

        Compassionate Fit, located next door, provides post mastectomy products. All services are provided in a private setting with a female ABC certified fitter. Our fitter, Mariska, is also a practicing physical therapist.

        Also located next door is our sister company, First Step Therapy.  First Step provides physical therapy services with specialization in gait training with a prosthesis. The combination of prosthetic, orthotic, and therapeutic services in one setting provide improved coordination of patient care and follow up, which ultimately results in greater patient satisfaction and recovery.
